How to match with Helpers on Herewith

On Herewith, you’ll find 100% background-checked Helpers with a diverse range of skills and availability. Helpers are friendly, caring individuals who enjoy working with older adults in their communities. Browse Helper profiles and chat with them through Herewith’s secure online portal before booking to find the best match for your needs.

Overview: Caregiving services provided by Helpers

Helpers provide non-medical care and everyday help for older adults. You can book Helpers for one-time tasks (when you just want to book a Helper once) or ongoing help (when you want to hire a Helper for part-or full-time caregiving), depending on your needs. When you make a Help Request, you’ll be able to choose what kind of services you want and choose a frequency of help that suits your family’s needs.

Non-medical support ranges from things like light housework, errands, help with technology, companionship, and meal prep to feeding, bathing, and dressing. In some cases, Helpers can also provide non-medical support for managing health conditions, such as memory care and aid with mobility, toileting, or medication reminders.

Real world examples of caregiving services on Herewith

Caregiving isn’t one size fits all—every individual and family has their own set of needs and preferences. Everyday help on Herewith is designed to offer affordable, trustworthy support with a full spectrum of caregiving needs, without the limitations posed by strict care agency schedules.

On Herewith you get to choose the Helper that best suits your needs, and book them just once or however often you need help.

Here are a few real world examples of what caregivers offer Herewith families:

  • “I need a bit of extra support after my procedure.”
  • “I help out my friend with whatever they need, and I just can’t do it anymore.”
  • “My parent lives by themselves and they are getting older and I just want somebody to stop by and help them with some errands, light house keeping, some companionship.”
  • “My parent just came out of surgery. I need someone who can help them with personal care tasks, because I’m not as young as I used to be either.”
  • “I live by myself and I need someone to get my medications and help me around the house once a week.”
  • “I am disabled and I need to have someone help me a few times a week after my treatments.”
  • “My parent lives in a care facility and needs someone during the nights to keep them company and to keep them from wandering off.”

How to book help for one-time requests

One-time tasks are essentially one-off requests, where a Helper comes over once for a limited amount of time and provides help with a specific need. Perfect for older adults who are more independent or for those who don’t wish to commit to hiring a caregiver on a regular schedule, tasks are simple to book and don’t break the bank.

Choose from four common task categories for easy booking: Home Help, Errands, Basic Tech Help, or Companionship. Then add more details to your request and post it for Helpers in your area to apply.

For example, if your dad needs help with dinner on Saturday afternoon:

  1. Select Home Help
  2. Choose the date, start time, and end time for the task
  3. Fill out the address where help will take place (this information will remain private until the booking is confirmed)
  4. Add the job description, including the specifics of what the Helper needs to do. In this case you might write, “We need someone to prepare dinner, clean the kitchen, and set the table (including portioning out the food) for my dad’s dinner. Groceries will already be in the fridge. I will leave a note about what to cook. My dad is friendly and will enjoy chatting with you, but doesn’t need any personal care or help eating.”
  5. Set the hourly rate for your task (Remember, if you set $22/hour, for example, it would be a total of $44 for a 2-hour task). You can view a detailed break-down of the cost below the budget slider
  6. Add your payment details (You will not be charged until after the Helper has fulfilled the task)
  7. Review and post your request for nearby Helpers to apply

Caregiving guidelines for Helpers

Helpers can provide a variety of non-medical caregiving services for seniors and adults with chronic conditions or other care needs. If you have questions about skills, certifications, or training, check their Herewith profile. You can also conduct your own Helper vetting and interviews securely via chat on the Herewith platform.

While there are many tasks and care needs that Helpers may attend to, they may not administer medications, provide any type of medical care, or assist with any medical decisions. Helpers may only do tasks that directly help the care recipient. For example, Helpers should not be booked to fix the roof or fix the plumbing.
