Herewith Protect FAQs

Do I have to pay for Herewith Protect?

Herewith Protect (background checks, liability insurance, and live support) is covered by the Herewith Service fee—a simple 20% built into your hourly care budget and only taken for services received.

What do Herewith’s background checks cover?

Our platform eligibility checks include: a National Criminal Search to identify any past criminal offenses; a Sex Offender Search to screen multiple databases; a SSN Trace and Identity Verification to confirm identity and address history; and a Global Watchlist Search for fraud, sanctions, or security risks.

Is workers’ compensation included in Herewith Protect?

Workers’ compensation is available for families as an add-on policy if you choose to hire your Helper as a W-2 employee through our payroll partner, HomeWork Solutions. Requirements vary by state.

What kind of insurance covers in-home caregivers?

Liability insurance (included under Herewith Protect) covers Helpers and protects against claims related to the care being provided, such as accidental injury of a care recipient during a care visit. This type of coverage may help pay for legal fees, settlements, or other costs tied to that claim.

Is my liability insurance policy specific to my Helper or my household?

Liability insurance is carried by your Helper. When you hire through Herewith, every Helper carries liability insurance coverage up to $1 million per claim.

What should I do if I have safety concerns?

Safety is our top priority. In an emergency, always call 911 immediately. For non-emergency concerns, Herewith provides a clear reporting process to help resolve any issues. Learn more about reporting inappropriate behavior in our Community Guidelines.
