Booking senior care Helpers for errands & outings: What to know

One of the most common stories we hear from families, seniors, and professionals in the senior living industry is that older adults greatly benefit from support with leaving their home, whether it’s a trip to the store, the barber, or the doctor. On Herewith, you can book a Helper to accompany you or your loved one on errands, appointments, and outings with our one-time task option, or you can ask your part-time or full-time Helper to provide support with these essential outings.

What makes Herewith different when it comes to help with errands & outings

Requesting help with errands on Herewith is specially tailored for older adults who need or enjoy a helpful companion to go places together. Helpers are there with you to provide companionship, support, help with transportation, and make sure your errands are all taken care of.

Herewith isn’t a rideshare service where a driver picks care recipients up and drops them off without any interaction or support. Instead, Helpers are here to accompany seniors for round trips on outings or even perform errands on their behalf.

How to book a Help Request for Errands

Whether you’re looking for someone to take you to the hairdresser, do the grocery shopping with you, or take you to a doctor’s appointment, you’ll want to request Help with Errands on Herewith.

This is a one-time task that you can schedule at your convenience. You’ll add when you want it to take place, how long you’d like to book the Helper for, and how much you’d like to pay. Then you’ll add details so that your Helper knows what you’re expecting, such as listing the errands or outings that you need help with.

Tips on what to include in your Help Request for Help with Errands

A Help Request tells Helpers what type of personal assistance you’re expecting, so it’s good to include the main details of what you need. Then, once you’ve booked your favorite Helper, be sure to chat with them and make sure they understand exactly what you need, where you’re going, and other essential details.

Key information for a successful outing with your Helper:

  • Where you need to go and how long you expect it might take
  • What your transportation needs are (Ex: Do you need a ride, will you be driving, will you be taking the bus together, etc)
  • Let them know how much help/support you need during the outing. (Ex: Will you need help carrying bags inside the house after shopping, help getting into the care, etc)
  • Be clear about your expectations (Ex: You want them to bring you to your appointment, wait at the doctor’s office, and then take you home after)
  • Tip: If you’re booking help with an errand that has at least 15 minutes of driving, be sure to reflect the additional transportation time in how much you’ll pay.

Remember, you can always send your Helper a message to chat about your plans and make sure you’re getting the personal assistance you prefer!
