From comprehensive background checks to strong privacy policies, Herewith has established several measures to maintain trust and transparency in the caregiver selection process, so you can feel confident about chatting and hiring on our platform.

How Herewith support senior care safety

Annual background checks for caregivers

Herewith requires all Helpers who join our platform undergo an initial eligibility background check and requires all Helpers to consent to an annual eligibility background check thereafter. These background checks are designed by Herewith to verify whether Helpers meet Herewith’s eligibility standards for participation on its platform.

We partner with Checkr, a trusted background screening provider, for such background checks. The process includes:

• National Criminal Search to identify any past criminal offenses
• Sex Offender Search to screen multiple databases
• SSN Trace and Identity Verification to confirm identity and address history
• Global Watchlist Search for fraud, sanctions, or security risks

However, please note that care recipients should not rely solely on Herewith’s eligibility background checks in vetting potential Helpers. Background checks have inherent limitations and may not be complete or accurate in all cases. In addition, you may have different standards or levels of comfort with respect to a Helper’s history than Herewith does for participation on its platform. We recommend that care recipients and their families conduct their own pre-employment background checks and check references, among other vetting, to make sure they are comfortable with their hiring decisions.

What happens if a Helper doesn’t pass their annual background check?

If a Helper doesn’t pass their annual background check, their profile will not be visible on the Herewith platform. If you have hired a Helper for ongoing help and they do not complete or pass their annual background check, their employment will be terminated by default until such time as they are eligible to return to the platform.

What should I do if I have safety concerns about my Helper?

Safety is our top priority. If you ever have safety concerns regarding a Helper, our Support Team is available to address them. In an emergency, always call 911 immediately.

How Herewith Protects Your Privacy

Privacy is a top concern when booking a Helper for in-home senior care. Here’s how we protect your personal data:

• Your personal information (phone numbers, emails, and addresses) is never shared publicly.
• Only hired Helpers can see the worksite address where care services are booked.
• Past Helpers can only access their own payroll and shift history—not any client details.
